William Gatti, a skilled restorer with years of experience behind him, has worked independently since 2003, aided by his son Christian, who has been successfully following in his father’s footsteps for years. William first started out back in 1971 at Scaglietti where, even then, he worked on the electrical systems of various Ferrari vehicles in production at the renowned Modenese car body workshop.

In 1986, however, he set up on his own to work for all car body and mechanical workshops, and was invariably sought by them for repair services and complete overhauls on the electrical systems of various vehicles.
So, it is hardly surprising that William Gatti is now one of the leading experts in the field of restoration of electrical systems, especially for Ferrari and Maserati cars, as well as for Bugattis, Lamborghinis, Alfa Romeo, and other car legends, with which he has become familiar after all these years.

One particularly prestigious job was the restoration of the famous 815 Auto Avio Costruzioni, the first vehicle to be constructed by Enzo Ferrari in 1940, whose only remaining example in the world today was restored entirely by Carrozzeria Campana and whose electrical system, obviously, was done by William. And the source of his exceptional skill and flair for adaptation?

Well, it does not just stem from his considerable hands-on experience acquired over the years of work in the field. Much of it is also down to the highly professional work ethic that he has developed with the help of his son, Christian, which begins from the original designs of the brands and, very often, in the instance of limited editions, crafted cars or one-offs, followed by an ability to analyse data, to create his own designs and to construct the system on a specially-designed workbench at his Bomporto workshop.
